What is RU58841?

RU58841 is a non steroidal anti androgenic drug first developed in the 1980s as a local treatment for acne and male pattern baldness (androgenic alopecia).
RU58841 has several names. You may have encountered names such as PSK3841 or HMR 3841. All of these indicate the same meaning, but the companies that manufacture them are different.
Therefore, even among those who seem to have exhausted all other hair loss treatment methods, it has attracted increasing attention.
However, people must hold a reserved attitude towards this - there is not enough scientific research to confirm this claim. Most of the stories you read on the Internet are statements from individuals who may have conflicts of interest or are taking other hair loss drugs (such as minoxidil and finasteride).

How did it come about?
The concept of RU-58841 is not a recent invention. The idea of developing it was first proposed by French scientists in the 1970s. Although it was produced in the 1980s, most research on its development progressed until the 1990s.
The main goal of these scientists is to develop an effective drug that can effectively control acne and androgenic alopecia when applied topically, while avoiding/limiting systemic side effects.
Rats and hamsters are animal models used to test their effectiveness. The outcome of RU58841 is very promising during the mediation trial stage.
In fact, even small doses as low as 0.001 milligrams show significant local effects. Even at high doses of up to 0.01 milligrams, the effect is still limited to the application site - a relief that researchers are very eager for.
Since the emergence of this idea, many things have happened. For example, several companies have acquired and relinquished their rights to the product. In the end, a company called ProStraken obtained full rights to RU58841 and renamed it PSK3841.
In late 2005, ProStraken announced that they would push the drug into phase two trials and were expected to launch the product in 2010. Fast forward to today, it is still unclear whether the second phase of the experiment has been conducted.
The development around this product is very limited. Therefore, to date, the FDA has not approved its use for the management of any disease.

The science behind it
Due to its anti androgenic properties, this medication may be able to target skin conditions such as acne and androgenic alopecia.
However, the mechanism of RU58841 is completely different from other anti androgen drugs. The reasons are as follows:
Unlike other anti androgen drugs that reduce or block the synthesis of dehydroepiandrosterone (DHT) and testosterone, RU58841 primarily exhibits specific specificity towards receptors.
Now, you may have realized that hair loss is caused by the effects of DHT and testosterone. RU58841 competitively binds to DHT receptors, thereby preventing any DHT from attaching to the receptors and causing hair loss.
How effective is RU58841?
The effectiveness of RU58841 is impressive. From the comparison of RU58841 before and after below, it can be seen that the overall effect is indeed very obvious.
Evaluating the effectiveness of RU58841 will enable us to compare it with drugs such as finasteride that inhibit or reduce DHT synthesis.
The fact that RU58841 does not interfere with the synthesis of DHT and testosterone makes it a very promising drug. More importantly, you won't worry about side effects such as erectile dysfunction, which is more common in finasteride.
I will never imply that finasteride is ineffective. This medication will reduce a significant portion of your DHT, so you no longer have to worry about severe hair loss like before.
This is where RU58841 works differently. It may protect your hair follicles from the harmful effects of DHT, but it will not interfere with your DHT levels. When you use RU58841, all the advantages of DHT will remain unchanged.

How to use RU58841?
The most exciting part is knowing how to take this medication and how to store it. As mentioned earlier, preliminary trials of this drug have shown that it is highly effective even at low doses. When everything remains constant, applying a daily dose of 50 milligrams in the area affected by hair loss is sufficient.
However, certain underlying factors may prompt individuals to use more than 50 milligrams. For most people I have come into contact with, they have not seen the need to use more than 50 milligrams.
Although you are free to increase the dosage between 75 milligrams and 100 milligrams per day, you will soon realize that this is absolutely unnecessary and may result in an economic disadvantage due to wasting valuable medication.
How to use it
Apply 50mg of medication to the area of hair loss. Then, gently rub and apply with fingertips to ensure even coverage of the target area.
After applying, let it dry. The liquid takes about a minute to dry. The next procedure depends on whether you are also using other hair care. For example, if you are also using minoxidil to treat hair loss, then this is the best time to apply minoxidil.
When should you apply your RU58841?
Ideally, there is no standard time for using this medication. But one thing you should consider is that your skin always produces a large amount of oil called sebum.
This sebum will reduce the effectiveness and permeability of RU58841. Therefore, you may wish to apply it after showering - preferably within 30 minutes after showering.
It largely depends on what is convenient for you. Some people actually prefer to use it before going to bed at night. It is very effective for them.
Although there is no fixed law regarding the use of RU58841 after showering, it does optimize its penetration value and overall effectiveness.
